On Saturday 14th April 2012 ten magnificently presented speedway machines were on display for the many interested visitors and town people of Corrigin.

ASDRA President Alan Meakins and Town Planning Consultant Joe Douglas presented plans for the reopening of Walden Park Speedway, Corrigin to Shire Council members, local residents and speedway enthusiasts.

The track will be built to the latest Speedway Industry Standards making it possible for all divisions to participate in racing.  As Corrigin is about two and a half hours from Perth many of the professional teams would be able to add to the spectacle at some events.

Emphasis would be to encourage local participation from businesses in the area to help with the rebuilding which would keep the money spent on the facility in the town.

Local people, particularly the youth of Corrigin and surrounding areas, will be encouraged to participate and also become trained speedway officials.

Shire Council members Lyn Baker (President) and Dave Bolt, and Environmental Health Officer Lauren Bosch added their advice on the future plans.

Councillors said they will meet this week to discuss the finalities of the proposal and how it could be an asset to the town before making their final decision.

All present were enthusiastic about the future plans and some local people asked how they could become involved.  Alan Meakins answered their various questions and  a very excited and encouraged crowd gave a spirited round of applause to Joe and Alan.
