Corrigin Speedway Track Restoration
The plan to restore Walden Park Speedway Track at Corrigin was presented on Saturday 14th April, 2012 by Town Planning Consultant Joe Douglas and Australian Speedway Drivers and Riders Association Incorporated President Alan Meakins to a mixed audience of townspeople, Corrigin Shire representatives and members of the speedway fraternity.
Mr Des Alfirevich, speaking for the WA Speedway Commission, stated that the Commission would back ASDRA one hundred percent and would assist in whatever way they could.
One year on and work is under way to realign the track and bring it up to current standards.
Under the new governance regulations for speedway in Western Australia, the WA Speedway Commission are responsible for track safety inspections and licensing of tracks to operate as a speedway. They also run training programs for officials and will be instrumental in the development of accredited officials for the Corrigin Speedway.
Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer official for the future operations of the track should contact ASDRA through this website stating their previous experience (if any).
Likewise, anyone interested in volunteering their time or expertise in any area involving the restoration of the track should contact ASDRA with their details.
