Work Party 31st May – 2nd June 2014

Work Party 31st May to 2nd June, 2014

Saturday 31st May 2014 was overcast and cold.

The best way to keep warm on a wintery day in Corrigin is to have a big bonfire.

Gary Smith had the right idea.

Sunday morning looked like it would be a perfect day as Gary and Alan met for their first cuppa near the fire.

Christine gathered up some of the piles of raked litter that had been left from last time and took it to the fire to burn. Pretty soon it was roaring again.

Keven Miles arrived with his machinery and team, Mal Miles and Doug Jones. They set to work putting in some drainage for the toilets.

If you’re wondering what happened to Doug, well that’s him helping Alan get the bike going.

Isn’t Christine supposed to be picking up those piles of litter? (She’s taking photos again.)

Ron Poultney on his tractor

Sunday afternoon Ron Poultney (Corrigin farmer from across the road), arrived with his tractor to create a new runway from the pits to the track between turns 3 and 4. Only one gatekeeper will be necessary as he will control both in and out access gates.

Gary had a few more fires burning in the pits and was kept busy tending them all.

Things are shaping up well in the pit area with Brian Moyle and Alan setting out the different areas.

We woke up Monday morning to find ourselves enshrouded in a heavy fog.

While waiting for the fog to lift, Alan discovered this fox hole burrowed into the earth he was intending to use elsewhere.

Showing the runway cut through the bank.
The old track exit has now been blocked.

An ablution block will be placed here. Donated.
Pipes were painted Monday morning.
